Overview

Protocadherin gamma-B4 (PCDHGB4) is a neural cadherin-like cell adhesion protein belonging to the protocadherin gamma gene cluster, located on chromosome 5[1][3][4]. This gene encodes a transmembrane protein with six extracellular cadherin repeats, likely mediating calcium-dependent adhesion, primarily within the nervous system. PCDHGB4 is thought to be involved in the establishment and maintenance of specific cell-cell (especially neuronal) connections in the brain, as well as potentially in wound healing by virtue of its expression in fibroblasts. The gene shows alternative splicing, and structural diversity is believed to support the complexity of neuronal connectivity[1][3][4][5]. No known drugs target this molecule, and it is not classified as a therapeutic target at this time.
