Overview

ENSG00000232617 is annotated as a pseudogene similar to part of RNA-binding motif protein, Y-linked, family 1, member A1 (RBMY1A1)[3][5]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional; they do not give rise to a functional protein product. This locus does not code for a therapeutic target or functional receptor, and there is no evidence for involvement in drug interactions or clinical utility. Most copies of the RBMY1A1 locus are pseudogenes, with only certain highly similar copies being functional[6][9]. The pseudogene family is localized on the Y chromosome and is related to spermatogenesis through functional RBMY1A1 proteins, but the pseudogene itself lacks known biological function or molecular activity[3][5][6]. Due to its nature as a pseudogene, it is not classified as an enzyme, receptor, transporter, or viable therapeutic target, nor is it used as a biomarker or has recognized safety or efficacy concerns in medicine.
