Pseudomonas aeruginosa exotoxin A (PE), also known as exotoxin A or ETA, is a potent protein toxin secreted by the Gram-negative bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It inhibits protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells by ADP-ribosylating eukaryotic elongation factor 2 (eEF2). While primarily known for its role in bacterial pathogenesis, modified forms of PE have been engineered into immunotoxins for targeted cancer therapy.
