Pseudomonas aeruginosa serotype O11 lipopolysaccharide O-polysaccharide, also known as the O-antigen, is a highly variable carbohydrate chain extending from the outer membrane of the bacterium. It serves as a primary determinant of serological specificity and is a critical virulence factor that shields the pathogen from the host's innate immune system, particularly complement-mediated lysis and phagocytosis [1][2]. The O11 serotype is one of the most prevalent strains associated with severe hospital-acquired infections, including ventilator-associated pneumonia [3]. This molecule is a major therapeutic target for monoclonal antibodies and vaccines designed to provide serotype-specific immunity. For instance, Panobacumab is a human monoclonal IgM antibody that specifically targets the O11 O-polysaccharide to enhance opsonophagocytic killing by host neutrophils [4]. While highly effective against its specific target, the therapeutic utility of targeting this molecule is limited by the high degree of structural diversity among the 20 different International Antigenic Typing Scheme (IATS) serotypes of P. aeruginosa [5].
