Overview

PSMA3 antisense RNA 1 (PSMA3-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is transcribed antisense to the PSMA3 gene. It is not a protein but a regulatory RNA molecule. PSMA3-AS1 is involved in the regulation of various cellular functions such as proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis, especially in the context of tumor biology. It acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), sequestering specific microRNAs (such as miR-329-3p, miR-302a-3p, and miR-154-5p), thereby modulating the expression of downstream target genes like ALDOA, RAB22A, and KPNA4. Overexpression of PSMA3-AS1 has been documented in several types of cancer, including glioma, gastric cancer, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, ovarian, lung, and colorectal cancers, where it often functions as a pro-oncogenic factor promoting tumor growth and metastasis. PSMA3-AS1 may serve as a biomarker for disease progression and a potential therapeutic target in oncology research[1][2][3].
