Overview

PSORS1C3 (Psoriasis susceptibility 1 candidate 3) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region and transcribed in several splice variants[1][2][4]. It is adjacent to, and partially overlaps with, the OCT4 (POU5F1) gene, a key transcription factor in stemness, proliferation, and the stress response[1][2]. PSORS1C3’s genomic elements act as enhancers or fine-tuners of OCT4 expression, particularly in non-pluripotent cells, and its transcription is sensitive to glucocorticoids through glucocorticoid receptor (GR/NR3C1) binding at its promoters[1][2]. Genetic association and functional studies suggest roles for PSORS1C3 in the pathogenesis of psoriasis and other immune-mediated diseases, likely by modulating the immune response and local chromatin structure[1][2][4]. No direct protein products or canonical receptor/target characteristics are reported, and it is not targeted by current therapeutics or known to serve as a biomarker outside research contexts[1][2][3][4].
