Psoriasis susceptibility 1 candidate gene 2 protein (PSORS1C2) is a small mammalian protein (14.4 kDa) encoded by the PSORS1C2 gene located within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region on chromosome 6, between the CCHCR1 and CDSN genes[1][2][3][11]. PSORS1C2 is highly expressed in human epidermis, particularly in the granular layer and during terminal differentiation of keratinocytes, with weak expression in the thymus[2]. It has been defined as a keratinocyte cornification-associated protein and has evolutionary presence primarily in mammals[2]. Mutations or regulatory variations of PSORS1C2 are associated with increased susceptibility to psoriasis, but there is currently no evidence that it is a direct therapeutic target or that any approved drugs act on this protein[2][3][11].
