PTOV1 antisense RNA 2 (PTOV1-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) found in humans that does not code for a protein. PTOV1-AS2 was identified as part of a glyco-lncRNA signature predictive of tumor characteristics in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, and its expression is significantly higher in tumor tissues compared to normal tissues[2]. Its differential expression suggests it may play a regulatory role in the molecular mechanisms underlying certain cancers, and it has been investigated as a potential biomarker for disease presence or prognosis. There is currently no evidence that PTOV1-AS2 is a direct therapeutic target (such as a receptor or enzyme), and there are no known drugs that interact specifically with this lncRNA[2][3]. Note: PTOV1-AS2 should not be confused with the protein-coding PTOV1 (Prostate tumor overexpressed gene 1) or its other noncoding family member PTOV1-AS1[1][4].
