PTP4A1 pseudogene 2 is a processed pseudogene of the Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 4A1 gene, identified in human genomic studies as having high sequence similarity to PTP4A1 but lacking the capacity to encode a functional protein due to disruptions in coding sequence.[2] Pseudogenes like PTP4A1P2 are typically not transcribed or translated into active proteins, and they have no established roles in normal physiology, disease, or drug mechanisms. This distinguishes PTP4A1P2 from the functional gene PTP4A1, which encodes a cell signaling molecule involved in cell proliferation, migration, and cancer development[1][2].
