PTPRD divergent transcript (PTPRD-DT)

Target
PTPRD-DT
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), RNA gene
01

Overview

PTPRD divergent transcript (PTPRD-DT) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the strand opposite to the PTPRD gene on chromosome 9. It is also called PTPRD-AS2, reflecting its antisense relationship to the protein-coding PTPRD gene. While PTPRD (protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type D) is a well-studied tumor suppressor and neurobiological target, PTPRD-DT appears to function through regulation of gene expression at the RNA level rather than encoding a functional protein. There is currently little direct knowledge of its independent biological or disease functions, and it is not targeted by approved therapeutics[8]. Key Distinction: Do not confuse PTPRD-DT (a non-coding regulatory RNA) with PTPRD (a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase, a validated drug and disease target), as their functional relevance and targetability differ fundamentally. If you need information about the protein-coding PTPRD gene itself, please specify.
