Overview

PTPRN2 antisense RNA 1 (PTPRN2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA that is transcribed from the antisense strand of the PTPRN2 locus. Classified as an ncRNA, it does not encode a protein and is not currently considered a direct therapeutic target. While many antisense lncRNAs are known to regulate their corresponding sense transcripts or participate in epigenetic regulatory pathways, there is currently little functional or mechanistic information specifically available for PTPRN2-AS1. Its biological roles, disease associations, and implications for therapy remain to be characterized. Its parent sense gene, PTPRN2, is an autoantigen implicated in diabetes, but these roles do not extend directly to the antisense RNA based on current evidence.
