PTPRS antisense RNA 1 (PTPRS-AS1)

Target
PTPRS-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA
01

Overview

PTPRS antisense RNA 1 is a long non-coding RNA gene located antisense to the PTPRS (Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Receptor Type S) locus. PTPRS-AS1 is non-coding and presumed to play a regulatory role at the RNA level, but its precise biological function, disease associations, and utility as a therapeutic target are currently uncharacterized in the biomedical literature. There is a lack of functional, mechanistic, or pathophysiological data for PTPRS-AS1, and it is not recognized as a classical drug target. No associations with drugs, disease phenotypes, or biomarker roles are documented. PTPRS-AS1 is a valid, annotated lncRNA gene and not a misspelling or error. However, as of this writing, it is not a canonical therapeutic target, lacks functional annotation, and is not currently associated with specific disease roles or drug interactions.

Biological functions

Likely involved in the regulation of PTPRS gene expression by antisense mechanisms; no specific biological pathways have been clearly demonstrated for PTPRS-AS1
03

Disease associations

Not clearly established; no published association with cancer, inflammation, or other specific disease states for PTPRS-AS1 itself. (Note: Homologous and similarly named lncRNAs at other loci—such as PTPRG-AS1—are linked to cancer, but NOT PTPRS-AS1)
