PTPRT antisense RNA 1 (PTPRT-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed in an antisense orientation relative to the protein-coding gene Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Receptor Type T (PTPRT) on human chromosome 20[9]. As a lncRNA, its sequence and expression are cataloged, but its biological function, molecular interactions, and potential disease relevance remain uncharacterized in the literature and major databases. There is no evidence that PTPRT-AS1 acts as a therapeutic target, nor have drug or biomarker studies focused on it. Most research in the region focuses on the associated PTPRT gene, which encodes a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase involved in cell adhesion and signal transduction, and which is known for its cancer relevance; however, the antisense RNA (PTPRT-AS1) remains, as of now, a poorly defined genomic element[1][9].
