Purine Nucleoside Analog

Molecular classification
Antimetabolite, Anticancer agent, Immunomodulator, Nucleoside Analog
01

Overview

Purine nucleoside analogs are synthetic molecules structurally similar to natural purine nucleosides. They act as antimetabolites, disrupting DNA and RNA synthesis by incorporating into nucleic acids and causing chain termination or inhibiting further elongation. These analogs are used as anticancer agents, particularly in hematologic malignancies, and some have immunosuppressive properties.
