Overview

Puromycin-sensitive aminopeptidase (PSA), also known as cytosol alanyl aminopeptidase or alanine aminopeptidase (AAP), is a zinc-dependent metallopeptidase encoded by the NPEPPS gene in humans. It plays a key role in degrading neuroactive peptides and is involved in the final steps of intracellular peptide hydrolysis. Elevated levels are detected in urine during kidney damage. Upregulation has been observed in platinum-resistant bladder cancer cells, and inhibition sensitizes tumors to cisplatin.
