Overview

BTNL10P, known as putative butyrophilin-like protein 10 pseudogene, is a predicted human pseudogene belonging to the butyrophilin (BTN) family, which is a subgroup of the immunoglobulin superfamily[1][2][5]. It is considered a product of a dubious gene prediction, and there is no evidence proving the existence of a functional protein product[1]. Computational predictions suggest it may be capable of signaling receptor binding and could be involved in T cell receptor signaling pathways and cytokine regulation, with presumed localization at the external side of the plasma membrane[2][3][8][11]. However, these predictions lack experimental validation, and BTNL10P is not recognized as a bona fide therapeutic target or receptor. No drugs are known to target BTNL10P, and there are no established roles in disease, biomarkers, or safety concerns reported. Most references clarify its uncertain relevance and questionable protein existence[1][2].
