Overview

Putative pre-mRNA-splicing factor ATP-dependent RNA helicase DHX32 (DHX32) is an RNA helicase belonging to the DEAH-box family, characterized by unique structural motifs and partially conserved helicase domains. It is widely expressed in human tissues and localized to both the nucleus and mitochondria, indicating a diversity of functions. DHX32 participates in key processes of RNA metabolism, including ribosome biosynthesis, transcription, splicing, and translation. Dysregulated DHX32 expression is associated with several cancers, being upregulated in solid tumors such as colorectal and breast cancer and downregulated in some leukemias. This association highlights its potential as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker as well as a putative therapeutic target, though no drugs currently target DHX32 directly. Further research is needed to clarify its precise functional impact in cancer and other diseases.
