Putative RNA-binding protein Luc7-like 2 (LUC7L2) is a human protein encoded by the LUC7L2 gene and functions principally as a pre-mRNA splicing factor. It associates with the U1 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex to regulate 5′ splice site selection in pre-mRNA splicing, especially recognizing non-consensus or "right-handed" 5′ splice sites. LUC7L2 is essential for splice site balance and precise regulation of alternative splicing events in human cells. Pathogenic mutations or deletions in LUC7L2 are associated with myeloid neoplasms, including acute myeloid leukemia, where loss of LUC7L2 contributes to distinct transcriptomic, splicing, and metabolic signatures that promote disease.
