Overview

Putative upstream-binding factor 1-like protein 6 (UBTFL6) refers to a human gene classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a DNA segment similar to a functional gene but is not transcribed and translated into a protein under normal conditions. UBTFL6 shares sequence similarity with upstream binding transcription factors involved in RNA polymerase I-mediated transcription but does not appear to encode a functional protein product. Genomic databases and gene annotation resources predict potential activity, such as RNA polymerase I core promoter sequence-specific DNA binding, but there is no experimental evidence that UBTFL6 produces a biologically active protein or participates in disease mechanisms. Accordingly, UBTFL6 is not considered a druggable target and does not serve as a biomarker or safety risk.
