PWWP domain-containing protein 2A (PWWP2A)

PWWP domain-containing protein 2A (PWWP2A) is a chromatin-binding adapter protein involved in multiple epigenetic and transcriptional control mechanisms. It binds nucleosomes by recognizing specific histone marks, primarily histone H3K36me3 and the variant H2A.Z, and recruits chromatin-modifying complexes that regulate histone acetylation at active genes[1][3]. This process plays a crucial role in normal gene expression, chromatin structure, DNA repair, and mitotic progression. PWWP2A is essential for proper control of transcriptional elongation and suppression of aberrant transcription initiation.
