Queuine tRNA-ribosyltransferase catalytic subunit 1 pseudogene 1 (QTRT1P1) is a human gene classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional copy of a protein-coding gene, in this case, QTRT1. While pseudogenes were historically considered "junk DNA," contemporary research shows some pseudogenes have indirect biological roles, such as acting as miRNA decoys or influencing the expression of related protein-coding genes. There is currently no evidence that QTRT1P1 encodes any protein or has a direct molecular function. It is not regarded as a therapeutic target, with no reported disease associations, drug interactions, or biomarker use.
