Target intelligence / Profile preview

Quiescin Sulfhydryl Oxidase 1 (QSOX1)

Target
QSOX1
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Oxidase
01

Overview

QSOX1 is an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of sulfhydryl groups in peptide and protein thiols to form disulfide bonds, with the concomitant reduction of molecular oxygen to hydrogen peroxide. It contains both an ERV family module and a thioredoxin domain. Its expression increases as fibroblasts exit the cell cycle into quiescence and it contributes to extracellular matrix assembly and normal cell-cell adhesion and migration. It is upregulated in certain cancers and has been implicated in sorafenib-induced ferroptosis in hepatocellular carcinoma.
