Quinone Oxidoreductase (NQO)

Target
NQO
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Flavoprotein
01

Overview

Quinone oxidoreductases are a family of flavoprotein enzymes that catalyze the reduction of quinones to hydroquinones, using electron donors such as NADH or NADPH. These enzymes play crucial roles in cellular defense against oxidative stress and detoxification of xenobiotics. The most studied members in mammals are NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) and NQO2.
