Overview

Rab11 family-interacting protein 2 is a cytosolic effector protein encoded by the RAB11FIP2 gene, primarily involved in the regulation of vesicular trafficking, particularly in the transport of vesicles from the endosomal recycling compartment to the plasma membrane[1][2][3]. It interacts directly with Rab11 GTPases—most notably Rab11A, Rab25, and MYO5B—to coordinate actin cytoskeleton remodeling, phagocytosis, exocytosis, and receptor-mediated endocytosis[2][3][6]. RAB11FIP2 forms homodimers through its C-terminal coiled-coil domain and contributes to maintaining cell polarity, vesicle recycling, and the regulation of endosomal trafficking in epithelial and other cell types[1][2]. Dysfunction or altered expression of RAB11FIP2 has been implicated in pathological processes such as cancer cell migration and invasion and rare congenital disorders, but it is not currently considered a therapeutic target for any approved drug[7][8].
