Rab11 family interacting protein 4 (RAB11FIP4) is a protein that binds Rab11 GTPases via a conserved Rab11-binding domain at its C-terminus, with a key role in endocytic recycling and vesicle trafficking[3][1][6][5]. It is classified as a class II Rab11-FIP, which also features EF hands and proline-rich regions and can interact with other small GTPases such as ARF5 and ARF6[1]. RAB11FIP4 facilitates membrane delivery from recycling endosomes to the cleavage furrow during late cytokinesis and may function as an “address tag” required for successful cell abscission[3][1][6]. Pathologically, increased expression in hypoxic conditions is linked to cancer metastasis, and it is implicated in the egress of human cytomegalovirus from the nucleus[3]. RAB11FIP4 is a well-characterized effector for Rab11 proteins, integral to spatial and temporal regulation of endocytic recycling and membrane trafficking.
