Overview

RAB43 pseudogene 1 is a non-protein-coding sequence in the human genome that shares homology with the functional RAB43 gene. As a pseudogene, it is thought to be transcriptionally inactive or nonfunctional, though pseudogenes can sometimes participate in regulatory mechanisms such as acting as decoys for microRNAs or generating non-coding RNAs[5]. There is no evidence that RAB43P1 encodes a protein, acts as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or is considered a therapeutic target. No molecular functions, disease roles, or drug interactions have been characterized for this locus. Some pseudogenes are included in genetic studies for their role as genetic markers or in gene regulation, but there is no direct evidence for RAB43P1 in these contexts[6]. RAB43 itself is a small GTPase involved in Golgi apparatus organization and intracellular vesicle trafficking, but RAB43P1 does not encode this protein[1][5]. The presence of RAB43P1 among retrogenes with altered expression in cancer samples has been noted, but no mechanistic or therapeutic relevance has been established[6]. The existence of multiple aliases (RAB43P1, RAB41P) simply reflects different database annotation practices and does not indicate active functional roles. In summary, RAB43 pseudogene 1 is not a therapeutic target and should not be included in drug discovery or molecular mechanism studies as a protein-coding gene or receptor[5][6]. If you require structured data for active targets, this entry should be flagged as incorrect or not applicable.
