RAB6C antisense RNA 1 (RAB6C-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA located in the same chromosomal region as the sense gene RAB6C. RAB6C-AS1 is implicated in multiple cancers, where it can act as an oncogenic driver or tumor suppressor depending on cellular context and cancer type[1][4][8]. Overexpression has been observed in gastric and breast cancers, while deletions are reported in certain prostate, pancreatic, and brain tumors[4][8]. This lncRNA may serve as a biomarker for prognosis and, potentially, prediction of therapy response, particularly in estrogen receptor-positive/progesterone receptor-negative breast cancer where RAB6C/RAB6C-AS1 status correlates with tamoxifen benefit[4][8]. However, no therapeutic drugs directly target RAB6C-AS1, and its utility lies primarily in biomarker-guided patient stratification rather than direct modulation by small molecules or biologics[1][3][4].
Not applicable for direct drug targeting. Its expression may modulate therapy response, e.g., low RAB6C (and possibly associated lncRNA profiles) predict better responses to tamoxifen in certain subtypes of breast cancer.
