Overview

RABGEF1 pseudogene 2 (RABGEF1P2) is classified as a pseudogene located in the human genome and does not produce a functional protein[6]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional; they may arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition. As a pseudogene, RABGEF1P2 lacks protein-coding ability and is not involved in molecular signaling pathways as an enzyme, receptor, transporter, or transcription factor. There is no evidence that RABGEF1P2 plays a direct role in biological functions, diseases, or serves as a therapeutic or diagnostic target[6]. This pseudogene should not be confused with its functional counterpart RABGEF1 (commonly known as Rabex-5), which is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor involved in endocytosis, autophagy, and several cellular signaling processes[2][3][4][5], but these functions do not apply to the pseudogene RABGEF1P2.
