Rabies Virus Glycoprotein (RABV-G)

Target
RABV-G
Molecular classification
Type I transmembrane glycoprotein
01

Overview

The rabies virus glycoprotein (RABV-G) is the sole surface protein of the rabies virion and plays a central role in viral entry, pathogenesis, and immune recognition. It mediates attachment to host cell receptors, induces endocytosis of the virion, and triggers membrane fusion. It is the major target for neutralizing antibodies and essential for induction of protective immunity against rabies infection.
