Overview

Rac family small GTPase 1 pseudogene 3 (RAC1P3), also called Psi3Rac1, is a human pseudogene related to the functional RAC1 gene. Pseudogenes are gene sequences that resemble known genes but do not encode functional proteins due to accumulated mutations or truncations. While functional RAC family proteins (like RAC1 and RAC3) act as small GTPases critical for signal transduction, cell growth, cytoskeletal organization, and other cellular processes[1][2][6], the RAC1P3 pseudogene does not produce an active GTPase and has not been associated with cell signaling, disease, or drug targeting. It is therefore not considered a therapeutic target and does not have known biological or clinical significance. If you are interested in RAC1 (the functional protein), it is a validated cancer and inflammatory disease target[1][2], but RAC1P3 is not. Most major biological databases do not assign any active role or therapeutic relevance to pseudogenes like RAC1P3.
