Rac family small GTPase 1 pseudogene 4 (RAC1P4, or Psi4Rac1) is an intronless, non-coding sequence on human chromosome 4 with high sequence similarity to the protein-coding Rac1 gene, which is a small Rho-GTPase involved in cytoskeletal rearrangement, signaling, and cell cycle regulation[1]. RAC1P4 is one of four described Rac1 pseudogenes (psi1Rac1–psi4Rac1) found in the human genome. Like other pseudogenes of Rac1, RAC1P4 does not produce a transcript or functional protein. It is not expressed in either normal or malignant tissues, and there is no evidence that it serves a biological function or is relevant to disease. Its only significance is in genomic studies, where its existence may complicate analyses targeting the authentic Rac1 gene[1].
