RAD1 pseudogene 2 (RAD1P2) is a human pseudogene sharing sequence similarity with the functional RAD1 gene, which encodes a DNA repair protein. RAD1P2 itself does not code for a functional protein and is currently not associated with known biological roles or disease associations. Like other pseudogenes, it may have potential regulatory functions at the RNA level, but no evidence supports such roles for RAD1P2 specifically[5][4][13]. Pseudogenes can sometimes act as microRNA sponges or generate small regulatory RNAs, affecting the expression of related genes, yet these functions are not described for this locus. In summary, RAD1P2 is a nonfunctional pseudogene with no current relevance as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug-interacting molecule.
