RAD52 motif 1 pseudogene

Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene)
01

Overview

The RAD52 motif 1 pseudogene is a genomic sequence that shares sequence similarity to the functional RAD52 motif-containing gene family but has lost the ability to encode a functional protein product due to disruptive mutations or loss of necessary regulatory elements. Pseudogenes like this can arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition but are rendered inactive by frameshifts, nonsense mutations, or lack of expression. They are not considered therapeutic targets, and no drugs, mechanisms of action, or disease roles are applicable unless future research identifies a non-canonical regulatory role[1][3][5].
