Overview

RAD54L2 pseudogene 1 (RAD54L2P1) is a genomic DNA sequence hypothesized to be derived from the functional RAD54-like 2 (RAD54L2) gene. There is currently no evidence in scientific literature or major databases for the existence of a functional gene or protein product named 'RAD54L2 pseudogene 1'. By definition, a pseudogene like RAD54L2P1 would be non-functional, not encode a protein, and therefore lacks biological or therapeutic significance. All established biological functions, molecular mechanisms, disease roles, and therapeutic implications are associated with the active RAD54L2 gene, which is an SNF2-family ATPase involved in DNA repair and genome stability, and is considered a therapeutic target in contexts such as cancer resistance to TOP2 inhibitors. The term 'RAD54L2P1' is likely incorrect or refers to a non-functional genomic element.

Mechanism of action

RAD54L2 pseudogene 1 (RAD54L2P1) is a pseudogene and, as such, does not encode a functional protein and has no known molecular mechanism of action. All known mechanisms, such as the dissociation of TOP2-DNA complexes via ATPase activity, are attributed to the functional RAD54-like 2 (RAD54L2) gene, not its pseudogene.
