Radial spoke head 10 homolog B (RSPH10B)

Target
RSPH10B
Molecular classification
Axonemal structural protein, Motile cilia/flagella associated protein complex
01

Overview

Radial spoke head 10 homolog B (RSPH10B) is part of the radial spoke head, a multiprotein structural complex within the axoneme of motile cilia and flagella. Radial spokes connect the central pair of microtubules to peripheral doublets, transmitting regulatory signals and helping to coordinate dynein-driven motility. RSPH10B contains a MORN (Membrane Occupation and Recognition Nexus) motif and is more prominent in metazoan species, where it may specifically contribute to the third radial spoke (RS3) head formation[2][4][7]. Its protein-protein interactions help regulate the structural integrity and function of cilia/flagella and may support proper assembly and mechanical signal transduction, crucial for normal ciliary movement in tissues like the respiratory tract and reproductive system[2][3][7]. Defects in radial spoke protein complexes cause impaired ciliary motility, which underlies primary ciliary dyskinesia and other ciliopathies, though RSPH10B itself is not yet directly linked as a monogenic disease gene[5][6].
