Overview

Radixin pseudogene 2 (RDXP2) is a truncated, non-protein-coding version of the radixin gene, identified on chromosome Xp21.3. It is categorized as a pseudogene: a DNA segment similar in sequence to the functional radixin gene (RDX), but it does not encode a functional protein and plays no known direct biological role[1][3]. While some pseudogenes have regulatory or disease-modifying effects, no such functions have been attributed to RDXP2. The functional radixin protein is important in actin cytoskeleton dynamics, but RDXP2 itself does not contribute to these processes[1][5]. RDXP2 is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or therapeutic target; rather, its main relevance is as a genomic marker indicating evolutionary gene duplication or truncation events in the human genome.
