Raftlin family member 2 (RFTN2), also known as Raftlin-2, is a cytoplasmic protein involved in the formation and maintenance of lipid rafts, which are cholesterol-rich microdomains in the plasma membrane important for organization of signaling complexes. In dendritic cells, RFTN2 mediates clathrin-dependent internalization of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) upon stimulation with lipopolysaccharide, which leads to downstream immune signaling[6]. RFTN2 is also predicted to participate in double-stranded RNA transport and responses to exogenous dsRNA, and is expressed in various tissues with notable cytoplasmic localization[4][5][6]. There is no current evidence that RFTN2 is a therapeutic receptor or conventional drug target, nor are there drugs or well-established biomarkers associated with this gene. Its biological functions are primarily related to membrane biology and immune cell signaling[1][4][6].
