Overview

RANBP2-like and GRIP domain-containing protein 3 (RGPD3) is a protein encoded by the RGPD3 gene on human chromosome 2. It contains an N-terminal tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) domain, two Ran-binding domains, and a C-terminal GRIP domain. The RGPD3 gene belongs to a cluster of Ran-binding protein–related genes created by primate-specific gene duplications. Its main paralog is RGPD4. Disease associations have been noted with some types of meningioma, but there is no evidence that RGPD3 itself is a therapeutic target or receptor. Its protein structure implies roles in protein-protein interaction and intracellular trafficking, but detailed functional or pharmacological characterization is lacking[4].
