Overview

RANBP2-like and GRIP domain-containing protein 5 is a protein encoded by the RGPD5 gene on human chromosome 2. It is highly homologous to RANBP2, a major protein of the nuclear pore complex. This protein contains Ran-binding and GRIP domains, suggesting it may be involved in protein trafficking around the nuclear envelope and in protein-protein interactions similar to its paralog RANBP2. While associated disease links include nephronophthisis and autism spectrum disorder, RGPD5 itself is not a recognized therapeutic target and is mainly studied for its basic cellular function or as a fusion partner in cancer genomics.
