Overview

RANBP2-like and GRIP domain-containing protein 6 (RGPD6) is a member of a gene family thought to have arisen by duplication of the RANBP2 locus. RANBP2-family proteins associate with the nuclear envelope and are involved in nuclear-cytoplasmic transport. RGPD6 is predicted to contribute to GTPase activator activity and is likely to participate in the import of proteins bearing nuclear localization signals (NLS) into the nucleus, although most functional data are inferred from sequence similarity and related proteins rather than direct experimental evidence for RGPD6. There are no currently established disease associations or known drug interactions for RGPD6, and it is not considered a validated therapeutic target.
