RAP1B pseudogene 2 (RAP1BP2) is a non-protein coding pseudogene similar in sequence to RAP1B, a small GTPase of the Ras family involved in integrin-mediated cell signaling and numerous cellular processes, including cell adhesion and migration[3][4][5]. Unlike RAP1B, RAP1BP2 does not encode a functional protein and lacks established biological or therapeutic roles. Pseudogenes like RAP1BP2 may result from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and typically do not impact cell physiology directly, though in some cases pseudogenic RNA transcripts may exert regulatory effects; such functions have not been substantiated for RAP1BP2[6]. If the intent is to refer to a functional target, RAP1B itself should be used; RAP1BP2 should not be considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or therapeutic target.
