Overview

RAP2C antisense RNA 1 (RAP2C-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located antisense to the RAP2C gene. RAP2C-AS1 does not encode a protein but exerts biological functions through the regulation of gene expression. It has been identified as being downregulated in clear cell renal cell carcinoma and bladder cancer and is associated with improved patient outcomes when expressed at higher levels. RAP2C-AS1 modulates tumor cell proliferation and migration and is implicated in the regulation of the tumor microenvironment, partly through influencing the expression of immune checkpoint molecules such as CD274 and CTLA4. Its expression correlates with clinical parameters of tumor progression, and it shows potential as a prognostic biomarker in cancer, but is not a direct therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter[1][3][4].
