Overview

Rapidly dividing cells are cells that frequently progress through the cell cycle with little or no time spent in the G0 phase. They play a crucial role in tissue maintenance, repair, and regeneration. However, their high proliferation rate also makes them sensitive to cytotoxic drugs and increases the risk of malignant transformation. Examples include skin epithelial cells, gastrointestinal tract lining cells, and hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells.
