Overview

Ras association domain-containing protein 4 (RASSF4) is a member of the Ras association domain family and functions as a putative tumor suppressor. It is involved in promoting cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, particularly through mechanisms dependent on p53 and Chk2 signaling. RASSF4 is frequently silenced by epigenetic mechanisms (e.g., promoter methylation) in a variety of cancers, such as gastric cancer and multiple myeloma. Restoring RASSF4 expression reduces cell proliferation, induces apoptosis, and sensitizes tumor cells to chemotherapeutics. As a Ras effector, RASSF4 is implicated in signal transduction and scaffolding functions related to the cytoskeleton and mitotic progression
