Overview

Ras association domain family member 8 (RASSF8) is a protein encoded by the *RASSF8* gene in humans. It is a member of the Ras association domain family and acts as a tumor suppressor protein, playing a central role in maintaining adherens junctions in epithelial cells and regulating cell migration. RASSF8 is associated with suppression of lung tumor development and has been implicated in developmental syndromes such as synpolydactyly due to chromosomal translocations involving the gene. Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms exist[1][2][4][3]. RASSF8 is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or ion channel, but functions as an adaptor/tumor suppressor protein involved in cell signaling and adhesion[1][3][4]. No drugs or direct pharmacological modulators have been reported; its primary relevance is in oncology and cell biology research[1][2]. Loss or mutation of RASSF8 may contribute to tumorigenesis, especially in lung cancer[1][4].
