Ras GTPase-activating protein-binding protein 1 (G3BP1) is a multifunctional RNA-binding protein that plays a critical role in the assembly and dynamics of stress granules, cytoplasmic condensates that form in response to adverse environmental conditions to regulate mRNA stability and translation[1][2][3]. G3BP1 contains domains mediating both RNA-protein and protein–protein interactions, including an RNA recognition motif (RRM) and arginine–glycine–glycine (RGG) domain, and its activity is regulated by post-translational modifications[1]. G3BP1 has been implicated as a therapeutic target in cancer, where its overexpression is linked to cell proliferation and metastasis, but it is also essential for neuronal development and maintenance, connecting it to neurodegenerative diseases[1]. G3BP1 can initiate stress granule formation and is commonly used as a marker for these structures[3], and it interacts with a variety of cellular proteins, including Caprin-1, UBAP2L, USP10, and SND1[1][2][3].
