Overview

Ras homolog family member T1 pseudogene 3 (RHOT1P3) is a segment of DNA sharing sequence similarity with the protein-coding RHOT1 gene but is unable to encode a functional protein due to disabling mutations or lack of regulatory elements[3]. Pseudogenes like RHOT1P3 may be transcribed as RNA and can have regulatory effects on related coding genes by serving as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), acting as decoys for microRNAs, or generating small interfering RNAs involved in post-transcriptional gene regulation[1]. However, pseudogenes are generally not considered molecular targets for therapy, and there is currently no evidence that RHOT1P3 is involved in any established disease process or is targeted by any drug. Many pseudogenes are annotated but not functionally characterized, and RHOT1P3 is among those pseudogenes without characterized biological or clinical importance[1][3].

02

Biological functions

Possible regulation of parental gene expression through RNA-based mechanisms (e.g., acting as an RNA decoy, siRNA production)[1]May contribute to genetic diversity or gene regulation[1]
03

Disease associations

No direct role; some pseudogenes can influence diseases indirectly via regulation of coding genes, but no evidence for direct disease involvement for RHOT1P3 specifically[1]
