Ras-related protein Rab-15 (RAB15) is a member of the Rab family of small GTPases within the Ras superfamily, functioning as a molecular switch for intracellular membrane trafficking. RAB15 is involved in the regulation of endocytic and recycling pathways, especially positive regulation of the regulated secretory pathway and receptor-mediated endocytosis. It regulates distinct routes of transferrin receptor recycling, acting as a GTPase and interacting with specific effectors (such as REP15), thereby coordinating trafficking events at the sorting endosome and endocytic recycling compartment. RAB15 is mainly localized to early/sorting endosomes and recycling endosomes in various cell types and is required for proper trafficking and recycling of membrane proteins, a process important for cell proliferation and migration. Abnormalities in Rab15 function have been implicated in oncogenic processes, including cell proliferation and migration in cancers such as glioblastoma[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9].
