Ras-related protein Rab-1A (RAB1A)

Target
RAB1A
Molecular classification
Small GTPase, Enzyme, Member of the Ras superfamily of small GTPases
01

Overview

Ras-related protein Rab-1A is a small GTPase that cycles between an active GTP-bound form and an inactive GDP-bound form, acting as a critical regulator of vesicle formation, movement, tethering, and fusion in intracellular membrane trafficking. It mediates transport of proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus and beyond, regulates secretion of key molecules like IL-8 and growth hormone, and influences Golgi morphology, cell adhesion, migration, autophagy, and host defense mechanisms against pathogens. The gene is linked with multiple cellular pathways, and dysregulation of RAB1A is associated with various human diseases, particularly several cancer types[1][4][9].
