Ras-related protein Rab-31 (RAB31) is a member of the small GTPase superfamily, specifically within the RAB subfamily, and is encoded by the *RAB31* gene on chromosome 18 in humans[2][4][5]. RAB31 acts as a molecular switch regulating intracellular membrane trafficking, is required for Golgi apparatus function, and is known to play a role in insulin-stimulated trafficking of the glucose transporter GLUT4[5]. Like other RAB family members, it toggles between inactive GDP-bound and active GTP-bound states, coordinating vesicle formation, movement, and fusion within cells. RAB31 is expressed in various tissues and is localized to endosomes and phagocytic vesicle membranes[1][3]. Although its direct targeting in therapeutics is not established, altered RAB31 expression has been observed in certain cancers and may influence tumor progression or metabolic pathways in disease contexts[3][5].
